A SYSTEM OF COLORS BY HEATHER BROOKS
Heather Brooks' art training started at a young age and has continued through adulthood. Although professionally, she has found a circuitous path to being an artist. Heather has been a special education teacher, a landscaper; and now she devotes her time to the creation of what she calls “nature flat lays.” Mushrooms and fungi are her main inspiration. But Heather also uses flowers, berries, leaves, lichen shells, sea glass… anything that can be legally and ethically gathered and used for art. Heather blends the wide variety of colors and textures found in nature into an artistic creation. The pieces are then photographed and either dismantled or left to decompose naturally. Heather’s work is driven out of artistic and scientific curiosity and a desire to share the beauty that surrounds us.
