SKY SCRAPING BY MICK JENKINS
A System of Colors - These are all fungi collected and assembled in western North Carolina. I wanted to create something colorful, bright, and optimistic. Also, blending one color to the next is something that pleases me visually and philosophically. Generally speaking, I like the idea of commonality and the idea that we all have a shared human experience. While these fungi are all shapes and sizes, they are all still just fungi.
On a more practical note, people often want to know if the mushrooms are edible. In this case, many of them are. The notable blue mushrooms here are indigo milk caps or Lactarius indigo. They are unique because they exude an indigo latex “milk” and are also edible.
